that 引導的定語(yǔ)從句
概念：修飾某一個(gè)名詞或代詞的從句叫定語(yǔ)從句。
e.g. This is an interesting book.
這是一本有趣的書(shū)。(形容詞interesting 作定語(yǔ)。)
This is a book that has beautiful pictures.
這是一本有漂亮圖畫(huà)的書(shū)。(句中 that has beautiful pictures 作定語(yǔ), 修飾book。)
如果把This is a book. 和The book has beautiful pictures.
合并為一個(gè)句子, 就可得到:
This is a book that has beautiful pictures.
這是一本有漂亮圖畫(huà)的書(shū)。
被修飾的名詞或代詞叫先行詞。從句放在被修飾詞(即先行詞) 之后。引導定語(yǔ)從句的詞叫關(guān)系詞。that 作關(guān)系詞可指物或人, 在定語(yǔ)從句中可作主語(yǔ)或賓語(yǔ)。
e.g. I’m looking for the photos that you took in Australia.
我正在找你在澳大利亞拍的照片。(作賓語(yǔ))
There were kangaroos that were jumping alongside the car. 袋鼠正在小汽車(chē)旁邊跳。(作主語(yǔ))
注意：
(1) 在定語(yǔ)從句中, 關(guān)系代詞取代了作主語(yǔ)或作賓語(yǔ)的詞, 因此在定語(yǔ)從句中不能再重復這些詞。
e.g. Australia is the country. Most British people would like to visit it. (合并成定語(yǔ)從句)
Australia is the country that most British people would like to visit. (對)
Australia is the country that most British people would like to visit it. (錯)
(2) 當關(guān)系詞在定語(yǔ)從句中作主語(yǔ)時(shí), 從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞應與先行詞在人稱(chēng)和數上保持一致。
e.g. They lived in some houses that were cold and unsafe.
他們住在一些又冷又不安全的房子里。(were 與先行詞 houses 保持一致)
I have a friend that loves sports.
我有一個(gè)喜歡體育運動(dòng)的朋友。(loves 與先行詞friend 保持一致)
Language practice
I have some photos that I took in Australia last year.
They wear special hats that keep the flies away.
The horse that I rode was lazy.
The game that they like most is Australian football.
Think of an animal and write some sentences about it, starting with This is an animal that...
This is an animal that is slow.
This is an animal that comes from China.
This is an animal that is black and white.
This is an animal that eats bamboo.
Now read your sentences to your partner. How quickly can your partner guess what it is?
Work in groups. Talk about what you would like to include in your poster and how to present it.
Choose a country you would like to make the poster about.
Think about the kinds of things you want to include: location, capital, famous places, famous people, customs and traditions, etc.
Think about how you would present your information: photos, leaflets, descriptions, maps, etc.
