①quarter名詞，意為“四分之一；一刻鐘”。
eg：There are four of us，so we cut the orange into quarters and each eats a piece.我們共有四個(gè)人，因此我們把橘子切成四等份，每人吃一份。

【拓展】分數表達法：
分子是基數詞，分母是序數詞，當分子超過(guò)一的時(shí)候，分母應用復數，并且二分之一通常用a half，四分之一通常用a/one quarter，四分之三常用three quarters。
【注意】分數修飾可數名詞作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用復數；修飾不可數名詞時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數。
eg：Four fifths of the people are working on the farm now.五分之四的人正在農場(chǎng)工作。
②population名詞，意為“人口；人口數量”。表示某地區的人口時(shí)，要在其前加定冠詞the。
【注意】①population作主語(yǔ)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數形式。
②其前有分數或百分數時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用復數形式。
③詢(xún)問(wèn)“人口多少”有兩種方式：
What's the population of...？
How large is the population of...？
④表示人口“多少”要用large或small來(lái)修飾。
chance可數名詞，意為“機會(huì )”，常用于以下結構中：
have a chance to do sth.
＝have a chance of doing sth. 有做某事的機會(huì )
