1. At the end of the meal, Mr. Bradshaw opened a box of cookies he had brought from home.

快吃完飯的時(shí)候,布拉德肖先生打開(kāi)一盒他從家鄉帶來(lái)的餅干。

at the end of的意思是“在……末(端)”。

e.g. The great man died at the end of 1942.

那位偉人1942年末去世。

I saw an old friend at the end of the room.

我看到在房間的盡頭有位老朋友。

注意:in the end后不接of短語(yǔ)。

in the end與at the end of

in the end意為“最后;終于”,相當于finally,常常獨立地作狀語(yǔ)。

at the end of意為“在……盡頭;在……末尾”。

【運用】

根據句意,選用in the end或at the end of填空。

(1) I’ll wait for you _____________ the street. 

(2) I hope everything will be all right _________.

(3) They didn’t get married _____________.

2. We each took a cookie and ate it.

我們每人拿起一塊餅干吃起來(lái)。

each在本句中作we的同位語(yǔ),此時(shí)謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要根據we用復數形式。

e.g. They each have received a letter from America.

他們每個(gè)人都收到了一封來(lái)自美國的信。

each單獨作主語(yǔ),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數形式。

e.g. Each agree with me.

每個(gè)人都贊成我的意見(jiàn)。

each of短語(yǔ)作主語(yǔ),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數或復數形式都可以。

e.g. Each of them is / are to pay his / their own fine.

他們得各人付自己的罰款。
