1.Which do you prefer to write,poems or stories?
prefer為動(dòng)詞,意為“更喜歡,寧愿”,相當于like…better。一般不用于進(jìn)行時(shí)態(tài)。常見(jiàn)用法如下:
(1)prefer sth.表示“更喜歡某物”。
(2)prefer to do sth.表示“寧愿做某事”。
(3)prefer(doing)A to(doing)B表示“比起(做)B來(lái)更喜歡(做)A”,其中to為介詞。
(4)prefer to do A rather than do B表示“寧愿做A而不愿做B”。
2.We learned to write stories and poems this week.
在下列動(dòng)詞后往往加不定式作賓語(yǔ):want,hope,wish,like,begin,start,try,agree,learn,promise,refuse,decide等。
3.We read many different kinds of poems.
many different kinds of意為“許多不同種類(lèi)的……”。
【拓展】a kind of意為“一種……”,all kinds of意為“各種各樣的”。
4.At the beginning I was afraid to try writing a poem.
◆at the beginning意為“開(kāi)始時(shí),起初”,at也可以換成in,后接of短語(yǔ)時(shí),只能用at the beginning。
◆be afraid to do sth.意為“害怕做某事”。
5.But it was too hard to write that poem!
本句中it作形式主語(yǔ),真正的主語(yǔ)是動(dòng)詞不定式短語(yǔ)to write that poem。在英語(yǔ)中動(dòng)詞不定式作主語(yǔ)時(shí),常用it作形式主語(yǔ),而將動(dòng)詞不定式放于句末。
